Dong-hwan (PARK Jeong-min), Sohn eines berühmten blinden Siegelschnitzers, hat seine Mutter Young-hee (SHIN Hyun-bin) nie kennengelernt. Angeblich verließ sie die Familie kurz nach seiner Geburt. Während der Dreharbeiten zu einer Dokumentation über das Leben seines Vaters erreicht ihn jedoch die Nachricht, dass Young-hees Überreste auf einer Baustelle nahe der Textilfabrik gefunden wurden, in der sie einst arbeitete. Gemeinsam mit der Produzentin Su-jin (HAN Ji-hyun) begibt sich Dong-hwan auf die Suche nach der Wahrheit. Während sie darin das Potenzial für eine eindringliche Doku erkennt, treibt ihn die Frage an, warum kein einziges Bild von seiner Mutter existiert... 

Regisseur YEON Sang-ho, bekannt durch den Zombie-Thriller Train to Busan, schlägt hier ruhigere Töne an. Statt auf Action setzt er auf ein vielschichtiges Mysterium und richtet den Blick auf rigide Schönheitsideale, unter denen insbesondere Frauen leiden.

Dong-hwan (PARK Jeong-min), the son of a renowned blind seal engraver, has never known his mother Young-hee (SHIN Hyun-bin), who supposedly left the family shortly after his birth. During the filming of a documentary about his father’s life, he receives shocking news: Young-hee’s remains have been discovered at a construction site near the textile factory where she once worked. Together with producer Su-jin (HAN Ji-hyun), Dong-hwan sets out in search of the truth. While she recognizes the story’s potential for a compelling documentary, he is driven by a more personal question: why isn’t there  a single photograph of his mother? 

Director YEON Sang-ho, known for the zombie thriller Train to Busan, takes a more subdued approach here. Rather than relying on action, he crafts a layered mystery that examines the rigid beauty standards society imposes, particularly on women.
