Willkommen im KTX von Seoul nach Busan. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Fahrt möglicherweise von Zombieattacken unterbrochen wird. Überleben nicht garantiert. Eigentlich möchte der von seiner Frau getrennt lebende Vater Seok-woo (GONG Yoo) seine Tochter Su-an (KIM Su-an) bloß zu ihrem Geburtstag zu ihrer Mutter nach Busan bringen, doch leider schleicht sich ein Zombie in den Zug. Schnell wird klar: Es wird nicht bei einer Infektion bleiben. Die Überlebenden, angeführt vom schlagkräftigen Sang-hwa (MA Dong-seok), versuchen, die vermeintlich sichere Spitze des Zuges zu erreichen.

Train to Busan war mit fast zwölf Millionen Besucher*innen der erfolgreichste Film des Jahres 2016 in Südkorea und setzte seinen Siegeszug auch international fort. Bis heute gilt Train to Busan neben Parasite für viele Filmfans als Gateway-Film in das südkoreanische Kino.

Welcome aboard the KTX from Seoul to Busan. Please be advised that the journey may be interrupted by zombie attacks. Survival is not guaranteed. Seok-woo (GONG Yoo), a father separated from his wife, simply wants to take his daughter Su-an (KIM Su-an) to Busan to spend her birthday with her mother. Unfortunately, a zombie sneaks onto the train. It quickly becomes clear that this will not be the only infection. Led by the brawny Sang-hwa (MA Dong-seok), the survivors attempt to make their way to the supposedly safe front of the train.

With almost twelve million admissions, Train to Busan was the most successful film of 2016 in South Korea and continued its triumphant run internationally. To this day, alongside Parasite, Train to Busan is considered by many film fans to be a gateway into South Korean cinema.
