Jeong-ah lädt das Paar zum Abendessen ein. Was als Beschwerde gedacht war, entwickelt sich zu einem Abend voller unerwarteter Geständnisse. The People Upstairs, eine Adaption des gleichnamigen Films von Cesc Gay aus dem Jahr 2020, ist eine Komödie über Liebe, Ehe und die Frage, wie viel Wahrheit ein Abendessen verträgt. Dieses Jahr feierte auch bereits die US Adaption des Films, The Invite, große Erfolge.

The marriage between Jeong-ah (GONG Hyo-jin) and Hyun-soo (KIM Dong-wook) is loveless. The two have grown apart. Separate bedrooms, no intimacy, and no sex in ages. Things are quite different for the neighbors in the apartment above them. Every night, Mr. Kim (HA Jung-woo) and Mrs. Kim (LEE Hanee) engage in such loud lovemaking that Jeong-ah and Hyun-soo can’t get a wink of sleep. Jeong-ah invites the couple over for dinner. What was meant to be a complaint turns into an evening full of unexpected confessions. Because Mr. and Mrs. Kim are so wild and uninhibited, they throw the whole evening, as well as Jeong-ah and Hyun-soo’s stagnant relationship into complete chaos.
The People Upstairs, an adaptation of the 2020 film of the same name by Cesc Gay, is a comedy about love, marriage, and the question of how much truth a dinner party can handle. Earlier this year, the US adaptation of the film, The Invite, enjoyed great success.
